This page is an ever growing resource for the latest, legitimate diet, exercise and mental health information. Please click on the title to go to the site.

The National Library of Medicine - This was the first database I signed on to in 1984 when I started what is now THE Burris Life Coach. This was the largest database of medical information in the world at the time.

American Dietetic Association - Need I say more.

American Medical Association - This page has access to a full spectrum of health issues including fitness and diet help. You will also find links to all the major medical journals.

Anatomical Travel - This is a great 3D site for every part of the human body.

Cyber Diet - This site has everything for calculating what you put into your body.

WebMD.com - This is an extensive medical database with some of the best search options I have seen. It covers weight loss, diet, fitness, mental health and the full spectrum of health issues. I now use this one more than The National Library of Medicine.

Screening For Mental Health - You can do a nationwide search for facilities that do depression screening.

National Mental Health Association - NMHA has a collection of helpful brochures, from the general What Is Depression to What Every Child Needs for Good Mental Health Not Just the Blues: There is also a catalog of books and low-cost pamphlets you can order on various aspects of depression. In addition, the group links to the HANDS (Harvard Department of Psychiatry/National Depression Screening Day Scale) which asks ten questions and gives confidential feedback about the presence of symptoms associated with depression.

National Alliance For The Mentally Ill - While originally founded to serve patients and families dealing with serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, NAMI has expanded and now provides excellent and up-to-date information and advocacy for people with depression. NAMI offers materials on depression in the elderly, women, children and adolescents, and gives advice on nitty-gritty issues such as getting fair insurance coverage and dealing with federal disability and Social Security programs. This site features informative reports on mental health research and legislation. At the NAMI bookstore, you can order popular titles on depression as well as literature written by the organization. Some documents are available for online browsing.

National Institute of Health - This site provides a wealth of resources. The information ranges from the most basic to the very sophisticated, and covers almost every health issue, including depression.
